I knew this session was going to be great when the first thing Michaela did was crack open a bottle of wine. Michaela and Paul invited me to their Kansas City home over Easter weekend to photograph their love, including their quaint apartment and neighborhood. It was my first time meeting them in person, and I have to say, there's no better way to get to know a couple than by spending time with them in their dwelling space! We talked about basketball (a little, don't get crazy), wine, and their first dance song for their upcoming wedding... which they ended up dancing to during their session and I KNOW I KNOW it's almost too gushy and romantic to bear, but I tell ya what, that's just who these two are.
After some snuggly moments with them and their much-adored felines (only Stella, the most gorgeous diva, is pictured) and a quick outfit change, we made our way to their surrounding neighborhood. Spring had just started show, which made for the sweetest little bits of greenery and life all around them. Despite some chilly clouds rolling in earlier that day, these two were all smiles, and it made me so glad that I got to join this resilient pair in their engagement journey!
The real match-made-in-photographer-heaven moment happened when the clouds broke and a sliver of sunshine popped out, spurring on spontaneous jogging to the best light as these two gladly kept pace. It made for my favorite images of the evening, all because they were willing to look a little crazy with me as we jogged through a neighborhood in fancy clothes!
Thank you both for being a total joy to hang out with for an evening, and I can't wait to photograph your wedding this fall! Everyone else--scroll along and see some of my favorite frames from their Kansas City engagement session!
